Automotive Lift Inspections, Automotive Lift Inspectors
ANSI standards state that all automotive lifts be inspected by a qualified inspector at least annually. All inspections are to be
documented and proper records kept current and on file. A service and repair history should be kept accurately documenting all certified inspections,
repairs and any routine maintenance that has been performed.
ANSI Standards also state that all operators of automotive lifts be properly
trained and said training to be properly documented. The Department of Occupational Safety and Health can impose stiff fines for willful
violators of this ANSI standard. The guidance offered in this standard is routinely recommended by the occupational safety and health
administration under the General Duty Clause [Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970] and (US Code of Federal
Regulations Title 29, Section 1910 and applicable subparts)
